OpenAI has launched the ChatGPT for Small Businesses program, designed to teach entrepreneurs how to build AI skills and automate recurring tasks with ChatGPT Work.

The program fits into the thread OpenAI has been weaving since it presented ChatGPT Work alongside GPT-5.6 in early July. By July 14, the company had already published operational guides for data science and sales teams, as we reported then. Now the target is small businesses, and the offer is structured in two tracks: a skill builder to train people, and tools to automate repetitive work.

Why it matters. If you run a business with a small team and tasks that repeat every week (quotes, press roundups, email triage, reports), the program promises to take you from occasional ChatGPT use to a self-running workflow. The value of AI lies in who knows how to use it: having the most powerful model matters little if your team can’t break down a task and pass it to the assistant in a way that returns a verifiable result. A structured skill-building program is the operational counterpart to model power announcements.
